Meet Our Guest Speaker: Michael W. Carr, II, P.E., Forensic Engineering Consultant at Rimkus Consulting Group, Inc.
Topic: Wind vs. Surge: Hurricane Damage Assessment
Wind vs. Surge: Hurricane Damage Assessment is a one-hour seminar designed to help participants understand hurricanes, the wind and surge forces generated from hurricanes, and discuss their relative destructive power. Participants will learn how to recognize damage caused by wind versus storm surge forces. This course cites various valuable sources, that include aerial photography and weather resources, utilized in the assessment of damage caused by hurricanes.

Mr. Michael Carr, holding B.S. and M.S. degrees in Civil Engineering and registered as a professional engineer in four states, has a rich background in facilities planning, design, and construction management. His expertise spans structural, building envelope, and utility system failure analysis, with experience ranging from expeditionary engineering to overseeing large-scale military campus designs. He has managed construction administration and contract management for diverse projects, including heavy civil, commercial, industrial, medical, educational, and residential constructions. In forensic engineering, Mr. Carr has investigated failures in civil/structural engineering, addressing issues like system failures, building settlement, moisture intrusions, wood deterioration, and construction defects.
